3rd Annual Thanksgiving Grocery Giveaway: This year we are donating groceries for Thanksgiving meals to over 100 families throughout California!

August 6-10, 2012 - Surf 4 Kidz Summer Camp

One of our favorite annual events, the Surf 4 Kidz summer camp combines a charitable fundraiser with the opportunity to learn how to surf! Camp founder Paul Leach conducts this camp each year along with a very special closing ceremony. All of the proceeds go to The Sitting Tree's annual Thanksgiving grocery event that helps hundreds of people enjoy a Thanksgiving meal they would not have otherwise. Big thanks to Paul for all his hard work!

July 28th, 2012 - Special Needs Dinner

Each year, The Sitting Tree provides a group of special needs families with an evening filled with gifts, surprise deliveries and a great meal of their choice. Big thanks to Restaurants on the Run for their support in this process and for assisting in the delivery of the meals to these families. This is our third annual Special Needs Dinner.

July 14, 2012 - Renovation of Recreation Room at a Boys & Girls Club in Santa Clarita, CA

The Sitting Tree teamed up with the Boys & Girls Club in Santa Clarita to renovate their outdated family recreation room. This room will provide a more comfortable environment for needy families in the community to enjoy. A sincere thank you to all of the volunteers that participated in this event. It was a huge success!

June 26, 2012 - Private DreamWorks Animation Screening - Madagascar 3

Big thanks to DreamWorks Animation for their hospitality at our screening of Madagascar 3 on the DWA campus! It was a great event and a special treat for the families in attendance. Special shout out to Serah Barela , Mike Nelson and Blake Stuart for their help!

October 5, 2011 - "Ellie Get Well-ie" - Panos Family Fundraiser

Two-year-old Ellie Panos is a little warrior. It's pretty common to have the occasional fights with your twin (Timmy), but it's not too common to be battling Leukemia at the same time. The Panos Family from Redwood City had their world turned upside down when Ellie was diagnosed in June. However, with an extremely strong network of family and friends, they are taking the treatments one day at a time. This is where The Sitting Tree comes in.

July 31st - Family Outreach - Special Needs Family Dinner Deliveries

This July, The Sitting Tree will once again give some local families who have special needs children the opportunity to have "Dinner On The Tree!" We know that it is not always easy to deal with the adjustments of having a child with special needs, but these families have risen above the challenge through determination, patience and love. In the process, they have proven that these challenges aren't impossible . . . just special!

June 24th, 2011- DreamWorks Animation and The Sitting Tree Present Kung Fu Panda 2

We will be hosting a screening of the new DreamWorks Animation film Kung Fu Panda 2 on the DreamWorks Animation campus on June 24th, 2011 from 7:00-9:30pm. All attendees will be Los Angeles based families in need, who will have the opportunity to enjoy a night of entertainment...and a few special surprises. March 22, 2011 - Art Auction

We will be hosting a small silent art auction @ Cafe Ugo Wine Bar in Culver City, CA on March 22, 2011 from 7:30-9:30pm. All proceeds will support our second annual outreach dinner where The Sitting Tree provides gifts, DVDs, and a special meal to a set of families in need.

September 18th, 2010 - Outreach Event at Central City Value High School

The Sitting Tree has teamed up with this unique charter school in Los Angeles who places a heavy emphasis on the student's family involvement with their curriculum. An overwhelming majority of the students and their families are economically challenged, therefore we arranged a beautification day along with a donation of calculators, art supplies, and other academic materials. This clean up day concluded with a lunch for the whole group.

August 9th-13th - Surf 4 Kidz Summer Camp Fundraiser

In the South Bay of Los Angeles, Paul Leach and Steve Walker run a wonderful annual surf camp for local children. The camp concludes with an awards ceremony for the kids and volunteers, and a silent auction for their parents. This year, The Sitting Tree had the honor of being the 2010 Surf 4 Kidz Summer Camp beneficiary. July 25th - Family Outreach - Rett Family Dinner Deliveries

This July, The Sitting Tree worked with ten local families dealing with the struggles of Rett Syndrome (http://www.rettsyndrome.org/about-rett-syndrome.html). To help ease their burden, we provided a fully catered meal along with some items for the whole family to enjoy. The meals were delivered directly to their houses for what we hope was a special night.

May 12, 2010 - Family Outreach - Children's Hospital Movie Screening

The Sitting Tree arranged a screening to the families and children at the Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA. Led by Kim Mackey, we screened DreamWorks Animation's animated feature "How To Train Your Dragon." Complete with tickets, gift bags, Q & A with one of the artists, and a red carpet, we brought a little bit of Hollywood to the hospital for an afternoon of fun and animation!
